"We moved many more times than I can remember to count. In my youth, I had always dreamt of the day I'd become a famous artist. Though I never could stay long enough to call a place where I once dwelled, "home", my heart still at home every time I create. The arches of sunlight;my lamp, as I read the earth below. I tuck myself into a bed of desert landscapes and warm sunsets as so many before me do.
What I do, I consider a deep personal expression of me experiencing life and my journey during existence."-C.Arteaga
Relating to a modern spin on culturally influenced art with a touch of added surrealism and hints of Pop-art, her 2D and 3D paintings are both equipped with details that cannot be replicated with any ordinary printer. To accomplish this amazing feat. she uses mixed media, contents including; acrylic paints and a variety of traditional art media such as, mica and clay and other skills such as sculpting and embroidery.
Explore the "Duality" Collection
This collection features each composition with a focus that hints to a symbolic surrealistic character who is identified by the essence of duality some may know as "two faced" or "the Gemini persona", hidden intentions, alter egos, more accurately, the duality of character.
The subject is displayed with the perception of acceptance of this duality; that it is in their nature like the story of the scorpion and the toad to save face in order to hide one's' shadow self. You may relate to this idealism by experiencing it in relationships with strangers you are meeting for the first time and people to may consider close to you and even in the refusal of accepting your "shadow self". This duality happens at the realization of self deceit and the complexity of having duo personalities or the strange feeling of red flags when there's a power exchange in our everyday lives.
The question of 'Why?' is perplexed in conclusion. For fun, to add excitement to a mundane task or life? A moment of neediness for any kind of attention? Perhaps for the worst kind of reasoning, to get some sort of benefit from you.
"Complete self absorption?" or does this relate to the naivety of children happening in the subconscious?
